Week 6

Standard

Hello and welcome back for a new update! In the past few weeks there has been a lot happening. Some plants are doing better then others and we are getting ready to plant new seeds for the July-August season. There has certainly been a lot of weeding and pepper/tomato pruning with all this sunlight and randomly heavy rains. Image

Our cucumber plants are very happy. We have harvest over 15 pounds of cucumbers already and there are still more growing! 50% of these cucumbers have been donated to Food For Others, and the others will either be sold in the JC next Monday, July 16th, or pickled for later sale!

Here is one of our beauties:

Our bush bean plants are as happy as ever with the recent Lady Bug population explosion. We set free over 1,000 lady bugs this past week in 3 separate areas of the garden, their future eggs will help us with all the aphids that have been making themselves at home. Here is a picture of the bush beans beautiful flower:

The beans grow out to the right and left of the lengthy stalk. The bees are very happy to pollinate these plants and seem to be enjoying all the beautiful things blooming throughout the garden. Speaking of blooming, check out our pomegranate bushes below! They have really come along way and hopefully we will get some actual fruit. Stay posted to hear if we do!

All the tropical thunderstorms have helped the plants blossom and become stronger. Our watermelons are really coming along and seem to grow inches every week. They are truly a spectacle to watch in the garden, they are so alive!

We will be planting new items over the next 2 weeks including purple carrots, kale, cabbage, radishes, and beets! Come by and hang out during garden hours! The garden(s) energy is growing!
